I bought these cacao nibs to use as a chocolate substitute while on a keto-based diet. These have some flavor similarities to chocolate but is a bit harder and chewier with a little bitterness. Despite this, I found that they are great when added to trail mixes, whipped cream, ice cream or even by themselves as they are sweetened. Importantly, it does help to curb chocolate cravings! Definitely worth trying.

If you place this order thinking it’s a replacement for chocolate chips, you’re in for a rude awakening. Maybe I misread something, but I thought this was supposed to be a healthy substitute for chocolate chips. It tasted bitter, and I had to spit it out immediately. Ok, this is not regular chocolate. I have seen negative reviews of people saying it doesn’t taste like milk chocolate. It isn’t supposed to. The Yacon Syrup does add a very slight sweet taste, but they have a trafitional cocoa taste to them. They are alightly bitter. I prefer not to eat them by themselves. They are wonderful with a bowl of fruit, in oatmeal, or in yogurt/yogurt alternative. For me, these are a vegan staple as I miss chocolate the most. These are wonderful on top of vegan brownies and other healthy desserts. Plus, the price is great! If you stick to the setving size they should last a long time.

These are a very unique cocao nib! And I feel like I’ve tried them all, as I eat nibs daily in my morning protein shake. One of the few ‘sweetened nibs”, they chew softer and better resemble semi-sweet chocolate chips.
I love the flavor. While, it doesn’t matter much in my shakes, I can eat these out of the package without bitterness or hard pieces. They would be perfect for trail mixes or in homemade cookies. These are quality and smell fresh when I opened them. (Some other nibs have a spoiled odor.) I also like that the company seems to be reputable and uses yacon syrup and not sugar as a sweetener. This is my new go-to brand!

These are quite bitter and a very different texture than dark chocolate, so don’t expect that experience. I have used a tablespoon of these in a tea infuser ball and poured boiling water over them. The result is a nice, cocoa flavored warm tea. It’s deliciois and incredibly satisfying. I’m using them during a Whole30 reset. No they aren’t technically plan approved because they have the tiniest amount of sweetener in them. But it is negligible and not a noticeable sweetness, so if it’s replacing my coffee that’s full of cream and sugar and satisfies just as well, it’s a huge win.

Being both a chocoholic and a relatively-long-term (almost one year) Keto dieter, I’ve long been on the lookout for anything with chocolate in it that is still OK on a Keto diet. This is the first thing I’ve found that actually tastes good all by itself and doesn’t ruin my daily Keto breath test score with excess carbs. I’ve tried cacao nibs before, first a Trader Joe’s product that coated them with 65% chocolate (yummy, but too many carbs), and then a 100% cacao product that tasted just like 100% baking chocolate, as in only tolerable combined with other food. Next, I tried a 100% cacao powder that had the same problem – OK sprinkling a bit on grain-free granola, but otherwise too bitter.
This product, on the other hand, is easily enjoyed direct from the bag, thanks to the yacon syrup. Very tasty, but not so sweet that I want to overindulge. 35C per 5g serving is 210C for a more typical 30g serving, which also raises its 1g of carbs to 5g – still entirely acceptable on even a 20g of carbs Keto diet, though obviously easier on the 50g of carbs I now aim for daily to maintain my new lower weight.
I’ve already re-ordered, and expect to buy this regularly from now on. Recommended.

Yacon Syrup is a well-tolerated natural sweetener that goes great on these cacao nibs! I use them on granola, in yogurt, in homemade ice cream and just straight out of the bag. It’s so hard to find sugar free chocolate that isn’t sweetened with sugar alcohols, and this is one of my favorites. These aren’t like chocolate chips, they don’t melt in your mouth, they are nibs, which are ground up dried cacao beans and they crunch. They are naturally a little bitter, so the yacon syrup gives it a good balance without making them really sweet.

I’ve tried a few different brands of organic cacao nips over the years and, while pretty expensive, Alovitox’s cacao nibs have the best texture and taste out of all of them. I usually only buy unsweetened, I eat them raw and I enjoy the bitter taste, the yacon syrup adds to the taste of the nibs. It adds a light sweetness that isn’t overpoweringly sweet. Though it seems strange that total sugars and added sugars sections have a percentage of zero. Some of the nibs I have eaten also have a strange chemical/moldy taste. Though I have had the same issue with other brands.

Yacon Syrup is a well-tolerated natural sweetener that goes great on these cacao nibs! I use them on granola, in yogurt, in homemade ice cream and just straight out of the bag. It’s so hard to find sugar free chocolate that isn’t sweetened with sugar alcohols, and this is one of my favorites. These aren’t like chocolate chips, they don’t melt in your mouth, they are nibs, which are ground up dried cacao beans and they crunch. They are naturally a little bitter, so the yacon syrup gives it a good balance without making them really sweet.

On the nutritional info for one tsp serving (or 5 grams) this item it says 0 grams total sugars and included 0 g added sugars. Total carbs are 1 gram per 1 tsp serving. I know everyone’s tastes are different but I don’t mind a small handful of these by themselves to alleviate my need for chocolate sweets. I’m very satisfied with these. The only reason I did not give it 4 starts is the price.

These are super taste and a great little tiny pick me up if you need cocao. I warn you though these are not sweet, if you like milk chocolate products this ain’t it. This is about the darkest, richest cocao you can get…like eating 85/90% coco.

I’m a chocolate hound but can’t eat much sugar (eczema and other health issues). These let me get my chocolate fix. I often sprinkle them on my low suger cereal and I sometimes also will eat ~a tbsp straight. Keep in mind I like my chocolate extra dark, as in 88% chocolate bars (which I only eat 1 or 2 squares at a time and let it melt in my mouth!). I’ve tried other nibs that are plain and they’re too bitter. The yacon syrup gives it enough of a sweet note to counter that.

Very disappointed. When with the yacon sweetened ones and NO chocolate taste at all, a pinch of bitter, like eating sweetened saw dust chunks. Chunks r less that 20% chocolate. Stuck up north where it is cold and can not find even a decent hot chocolate mix. Most r loaded with chemicals and toxic sweeteners. Waste of $20.00. Will see if can get a refund ?

I bought cacao nibs years ago and was underwhelmed and didn’t bother again. Recently I saw a recipe for energy bites that included chocolate chips but I wanted something different. I looked at different options, including carob, but decided to go with these. They are pretty spendey but delicious. I will repurchase but will use more sparingly in my recipe so I can get at least 3 batches out of one bag.

Ordered these on a whim the I couldn’t get to my local health store to get the cacao nibs I usually buy, and will absolutely never go back! First off, when you open the bag, you can tell how fresh they are, the smell of chocolate is wonderful. They also aren’t as hard as other nibs I’ve had. If you are accustom to milk chocolate, these may be on the bitter side, but if you are a dark chocolate loved, you don’t go wrong with these! Love putting them on my smoothies, in yogurt, ice cram, etc! Will absolutely be purchasing again!
