You may have heard of moringa powder – the newest powdered superfood on the block. You may have heard of its many health benefits, like being full of antioxidants, packed with vitamins, nutrients, and polyphenols, and has free-radical and inflammation-fighting qualities.
But what exactly is moringa powder? And how do you use it?
Moringa oleifera is a small tree from the sub-Himalayan areas of India, Nepal, Pakistan, Bangladesh and Afghanistan. It has been used in the Eastern world long before Western countries declared it a superfood. The entire plant – the leaves, bark, flowers, fruit, seeds, and roots, were all used to make medicine before it became a popularized powder. It’s been used traditionally for anemia, arthritis, joint pain, asthma, cancer, constipation, diabetes, epilepsy, kidney stones, fluid retention, stomach and intestinal ulcers, and too many more to list, according to WebMD.
So, you’re on top of it – you bought moringa powder…now what to do with it? “Put it in a smoothie!” just doesn’t suffice. Of course, powders in a smoothie are a no brainer and can be a great use of our powdered superfoods. But there’s got to be some more exciting ways to use that green, antioxidant-rich powder just waiting to be used!

Mixing superfood powders into nut butter is like the world’s best kept secret. It’s the easiest way to consume a considerable amount of your powder, without tasting it too much or changing the texture quite a bit. Peanut butter is going to do the best job of masking flavor, but moringa isn’t very potent in flavor and can be easily mixed with cashew butter, almond butter, sunflower butter, or any homemade nut butter.
Slather your moringa nut butter on crisp, warm toast in the morning, or use your moringa peanut butter to make a tangy asian peanut sauce. Moringa’s health benefits are kept intact with heat, so you can add your moringa nut butter to any dessert or baked good recipe you’ve been planning on making soon.
Healthy Mint Ice Cream
2 frozen bananas + 1/8 tsp peppermint extract + a pinch of salt + chocolate chips + moringa powder for color (and SUPER health) = a mint ice cream you’d NEVER guess was good for you!

Mathca Morning Latte
If you make your own matcha lattes at home, simply add a teaspoon or two in with your matcha and make your latte just as you would normally. It doesn’t really add too much flavor, if anything it helps balance out the bitterness of the matcha.
Making your own latte at home is really easy. You can use a high-powered blender, like a Vitamix, and just add your warmed plant milk, moringa powder, and matcha powder to the blender and blend away, if you want. But if you’re looking for that real latte foam – the key to great foam is a frother. The most affordable option is the small handheld frothers made for single serving drinks.
